How awesome to hear his voice! Simply wonderful! I have another Kraft Music Hall radio show from March 7, 1947 and on it Leonard talks so delightfully (remember the cheese? lol). He was just age 22 and was on that show weekly during that summer. He did a nice performance of Falla's Fire Dance and a Gershwin piece on that show. I am now going to edit and post it to YT. I love to hear him talk - such a wonderful sense of humor!
Wow! I am beginning to feel as though I know this man that I love so much.
I suspect he mastered the technical part of piano playing early and easily...one of the lucky ones. Given his wide repertoire I also suspect that he never lost his curiosity about new and obscure music, which, if true, was admirable. I write all this, of course, as guesswork, without my having known him.
Prof. G, he did master things easily. And you're right, he did love new and obscure music, always did. The way you sensed that and said it was so nice.Larry, isn't it funny how you do start to feel you know him? And thanks for posting the Kraft Music Hall show!!
