Here is an end-of-holidays pick-me-upper. As a public service I have scoured sacred texts and I have determined that in heaven there is beer.
That song "In heaven there is no beer" is incorrect!
The proof is in the Prayers After the Consecration. I am reading from the missal. It says: "Ipsis, Domine, et omnibus in Christo quiescentibus, locum refrigerii, lucis et pacis, ut indulgeas, deprecamur ..."
The book translates it as "To these, O Lord, and to all that rest in Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, a place of refreshing coolness, light and peace."
Literally, it is clear that "refrigerii" would translate more closely to "refrigeration."
Where there is refrigeration there is beer!
Notice also the mention of the omnibus. There is public transit in heaven! We do not have to drive.
Just think of it, in heaven we will be able to go and listen to Leonard Pennario and Rene Leibowitz playing Liszt and then go have a multitude of beers and not have to drive. I would say it is worth getting there.
With which, one more New Year's daymaker. The Latin Mass is in! It says so in the Washington Post.
Their In/Out list reads:
Out: Latin fusion.
In: Latin Mass.
Look at that. Am I a hipness barometer or what? Be hip! Be hip! See you Sunday at St. Anthony of Padua. 9 a.m.
For once in my life I am cutting edge!

The Latin Mass is trendy... go figure! Tradition has made a come back!
Deo gratias.
Beer in heaven? After a lifetime of misery because of having chosen alcohol, I surely hope not. But, I suppose I could tolerate it as long as you do not have to be 'politically correct'. That would be too much!
Love the Liszt! But, I bet you already guessed that, lol.
Did somebody mention Omnibus? Nobody did Omnibus like Flanders and Swann.
